Use Canva AI to Create a Professional Leave-Behind Card

What This Does

Canva's AI helps you create a professional door hanger, refrigerator magnet, or leave-behind business card that you can leave at every job — so satisfied customers have your number when they need you again in 6 months.

Before You Start

• Free Canva account at canva.com (no paid plan needed for this)
• Your business name, phone number, and list of services
• Optional: your logo (a photo of a business card works if you don't have a file)

Steps

1. Start a New Design

Go to canva.com and log in. In the search bar at the top, type "door hanger" or "business card" depending on what you want. Click on a template that looks professional and simple — avoid overly fancy designs.

What you should see: A grid of template options. Choose one with a dark background (easier to read on doorsteps) and a clean layout with space for your info.

2. Use Magic Write for Your Headline

Click anywhere on the existing headline text in the template. Delete it. In the left sidebar, click Apps, then find Magic Write. Type: "Write a short headline for a residential plumbing service. Focus on fast response and reliability. 8 words max."

Magic Write generates options like: "Fast, Reliable Plumbing — We Show Up When You Call" or "Licensed Plumber Ready When You Need Us."

What you should see: Text suggestions in the sidebar. Click one to insert it, then drag it onto your design where the headline was.

3. Fill In Your Information

Replace the placeholder text in the template with your:

• Business name
• Phone number (make it large — this is the most important element)
• Website or Google listing URL (optional)
• Services list: keep it to 4–6 items (Drain Clearing, Water Heaters, Leak Repair, Toilet & Faucet, Emergency Service)
• License number (builds trust with homeowners)

4. Adjust Colors to Match Your Truck/Brand

Click on any color element, then click the color swatch in the top toolbar. If you have a brand color, enter the hex code. If not, blue and white works for plumbing and reads as trustworthy.

5. Download and Print

Click Share → Download → choose PDF Print format (best quality for printing). Take this file to a local print shop or upload to Vistaprint.com and order 250–500 at a time.

Scenario: You just replaced a water heater for a homeowner who was thrilled with the work. You leave a door hanger on their counter.
